Four Corners Sports Tournament
On Wednesday 5th August, most of the senior students participated in the Four Corners Sports Tournament. This competition replaced the cancelled Winter Sports Tournament that was to be held in term two. The schools involved were Riverdale, Milson, Parkland and Cloverlea – which is where the Four Corners name came from. Each team was accompanied by reporters and a photographer. We hope you enjoy reading the reports and viewing the photographs that follow.

Mini Ball – by Simon and Amy
Cloverlea vs Milson
We went into the game with a big advantage as the Milson players were a lot shorter than us! All of the Cloverlea players put up shots, with Dylan doing an awesome jump off to start the game. At the end of the first half the score was 18-2 to us and we won the game 26-2. Cameron worked hard to get a lot of rebounds. Callum was fast back on defence and stopped Milson from scoring.

Cloverlea vs Riverdale
Riverdale fielded a tough team. Hemi was awesome at rebounding. Nick stole the ball heaps, with Cameron as his back up. Cloverlea had plenty of other issues to deal with. Regan was so busy thinking about the game, that he forgot to take off his sweatshirt and Nick had real problems keeping his shoelaces tied. The final score was Cloverlea 6, Riverdale 12.

Cloverlea vs Parkland
The first half of the game was a tie, with Cloverlea catching up to Parkland. Trent showed what a great shooter he is, and Liam was quite good at defence. The final score was Cloverlea 8, Parkland 12.

We came third overall in the competition. We were excited when we won first place for fair play and sportsmanship. Mrs Morley was a good coach for Team Cloverlea, and Callum’s mum was a great supporter. Thank you to everyone who helped us.

Hockey – by Brayden and Logan
The team worked very well together. The first halves of all of the games were very quiet, with only one game having any goals scored in the first half. The second halves were the opposite – with a lot of action! Annie made quite a few shots at goal, scoring four altogether.

Connor - played strong games and was a real team player. Zoe played well, once she had organised her footwear. Unfortunately she wasn't aware she couldn't wear boots on the turf! Jackie had to overcome nervousness, but participated once her nerves had settled down. Ethan was very enthusiastic and didn't back down when challenged. A player who wasn’t scared to hit the ball was Nathan, who can hit hard and fast! Sarah showed confidence and that she wasn’t scared to hit the ball. Annie attacked the ball strongly, hitting it as though it was a golf ball! Hayden displayed skill, scoring two goals for the team.

Soccer – by Mathew, Bayley and Korbyn
Cloverlea vs Milson
Jessica had a great game and was the best player. Josh and Harry were goalies – with Josh doing a nice save. Ryan hurt his foot when he was tackled. Milson almost got a goal, and Jessica also got really close to scoring. The final score was nil all.

Cloverlea vs Riverdale
The player of the game was Sam. Josh and Zavier both had problems staying on their feet and slipped over! Harry and Zavier made nice saves. Twice Sam got so close to scoring, and Stephanie also nearly scored. Again the final score was nil all.

Cloverlea vs Parkland
The player of the game was Harry, who was the goalie. He made several really good saves. Sam nearly scored, with Stephanie reflecting. Sam and Jessica worked well together to score two goals. The final score was 2-0 to us!

Cloverlea vs Milson (final)
Josh played at goalie and made lots of nice saves. Sam worked hard throughout the game and nearly scored several times. Sean and Matt made some great kicks. Unfortunately Milson scoared and the final result was 1-0 to them.

Netball – by Hannah M and SaphinaCloverlea vs Milson
Jasmine played well. Taylor and Justis worked well together, and at the end of the second half we were winning by heaps. We made lots of changes at half time so that most of the reserves had time on the court. We won 14-6.

Cloverlea vs Riverdale
We displayed great teamwork and sportsmanship. Riverdale were a strong team, and very tall! Although we tried hard, we lost 16-11.

Cloverlea vs Parkland
After a slow start, we finally got it together and started to draw ahead of Parkland. The final score was 17-14 to us.

Cloverlea vs Riverdale (final)
Although we worked really hard, we could never get ahead of Riverdale. At one stage we were two goals behind, but Riverdale had another surge and pulled ahead again. Nikki-Lee worked hard at centre, and the Taylor/Justis shooting combination worked well. Hannah played at goal defence, as Taylar’s injured fingers were causing her pain. The final score was 19-16 to Riverdale.

The whole team can be proud of themselves, as everybody worked hard to give their best effort. Thanks to Mrs Nugent for refereeing, and to all of the parents and aunties who came to watch and support us.

Rippa Rugby – by Thomas and Bromley

Cloverlea vs Riverdale
Players who shone were Dontae, Caleb and Emma. We lost 7-13.

Cloverlea vs Milson
Ammon, Leilani, Caleb, Keanu and Dontae all had good games. We lost 8-13.
